
WINNIPEG, September 03, 2025 – The Winnipeg Monarchs have brought in numerous players for their inaugural season. Here are five notable acquisitions to the team.
The Monarchs traded G Braxton Burdeny to the Virden Oil Capitals for F Maxx Hamelin (07).
The Monarchs acquired F Jackson Keeble (06) from the Sioux Lookout Bombers (SIJHL) and D Isaiah Felix (05) from the Iroquois Falls Storm (NOJHL) for a player development fee.
The Monarchs have signed G Karsten Hugenholtz (07) and F Ethan Hulme (07) for the 2025-26 season.
Jackson Keeble (5’11, 165, L) is a smart 200ft forward who plays strong on both ends of the ice. He will make his MJHL debut this season after spending last year in the SIJHL. The Brandon product had 5 points in 23 games as a 17-year-old, along with 1 playoff point in 7 games.
Isaiah Felix (5’11, 174, L) is a strong puck-moving defenceman from Edmonton, Alberta. He had 7 points in his last two seasons in the NOJHL and helped the Iroquois Storm to back-to-back playoff appearances.
Maxx Hamelin (5’9, 161, R) returns home to Winnipeg after spending 1 full season in Virden. Described as having great skill and a fast motor, Hamelin had 20 points in his last season, including two game-winning goals and 6 multi-point games as a 17-year-old.
Karsten Hugenholtz (6’3, 172, L) travels from Lethbridge, Alberta to join the Monarchs. Growing up playing youth hockey for the Calgary Royals, Hugenholtz had a 3.33 GAA with a .908 save percentage for a 6-11-3 record last season. Extremely athletic and technical, he helped the Royals clinch the last playoff spot.
Ethan Hulme (6’0, 170, L) gets to represent his hometown of Winnipeg on the MJHL stage. Hulme had 18 points in 31 games and plays a smart 200ft game that’s smooth and disciplined, only tallying one penalty last season.
