WINNIPEG, October 29th, 2026
The Monarchs are finding their stride at a crucial point in the season. With three victories in their past six contests, the squad has picked up momentum and pushed their record to 4–7–1 through 12 games played.
While the early-season standings are beginning to take shape, the games-in-hand advantage heavily favours the Monarchs. Most clubs across the MJHL have already logged between 13 and 15 games on their schedules. Having played just 12 contests, the Monarchs hold valuable games in hand, keeping them right in the mix with the rest of the league with plenty of hockey left to be played.
With more than three-quarters of the regular season still ahead, the Monarchs are proving they have both the depth and the drive to challenge anyone in the league.
Offensive Spark & Standout Rookies
A major driver behind the Monarchs’ recent success has been an electric stretch of offensive production, driven by a blend of veteran scoring and elite young talent.
- Nicolas Campbell: Campbell continues to set the standard up front, leveraging his quick release and goal-scoring touch to give the Monarchs timely goals in high-pressure moments.
- Chace Gregg: The dynamic rookie has taken the MJHL by storm. Gregg’s high-octane offensive production places him firmly among the top rookie scorers in the entire league, validating his reputation as a game-breaking playmaker.
- Carter Kingerski: Bringing elite hockey IQ and major junior experience to the locker room, Kingerski’s veteran presence and leadership have been instrumental in pushing the Monarchs to a noticeably higher, more relentless competitive level night after night.
- Carter Haney: A recent acquisition by the Monarchs is already hitting his stride with his new team. Already scoring 6 goals and 10 assists with Waywayseecapo, Haney made the move to Winnipeg and immediately made his mark with a 3 assist performance in his first game.
Next-Level Development: Brayden Gregg Recalled to WHL
In a major milestone for the program’s player development pipeline, star blue-liner Brayden Gregg has officially been recalled to the Western Hockey League by the Wenatchee Wild. Gregg’s stellar defensive work, transition play, and early-season shorthanded heroics earned him the opportunity to showcase his talent at the major junior level, a testament to both his skill and the Monarchs’ strength in preparing players for the next level.
Blue-Line Leaders & Squad Depth
With Gregg heading to the WHL, the back end continues to be in capable hands under co-captains Jonah Vanderhorst and Wyatt Kelman. The duo has anchored the defensive corps with heavy minutes, sound positioning, and steady poise.
Meanwhile, secondary scoring and secondary depth from forwards continue to keep opposing defences on their heels. Between the pipes, the goaltending tandem of Austin Kindrat and Piet Mierau has provided key saves during this recent stretch, including a save of the year candidate by Mierau, giving the Monarchs a chance to win every night out.
Looking Ahead
With chemistry continuing to build and players stepping into elevated roles, the Monarchs have set a solid foundation for the weeks ahead. As they prepare to make up their games in hand, every matchup offers an opportunity to climb higher in the MJHL standings and push firmly into a playoff position.
